A panel of expert speakers will lead the discussion, including the Mayors of Gosford and Wyong, and Greg Hoffman, Local Government Association of QLD to provide some insight on how they have begun to prepare their regions for population growth and development. Consult Australia has also invited local high schools and the media to take part. The Master of Ceremonies will be George Negus (host of SBS Dateline). As part of the Sydney Towards Tomorrow Central Coast Community Consultation Forum, Consult Australia invited every Central Coast high school to take part in an essay competition to put forward their views on the future of the Central Coast. The primary proposition the entrants were asked to explore was what advantages and disadvantages would arise if the Gosford and Wyong Councils were to amalgamate, which is one potential solution put forward in the Sydney Towards Tomorrow report.
Consult Australia congratulates the winners of the competition: Natalie Hodgson, Lillian Davis, Oscar Wilkie – Gosford High School. The winners presented their paper at the Forum, held 15th March 2010 and received a $1000 spending spree courtesy of Myer Erina. A copy of their paper is available here.
